While visiting the Richland Center area with my daughter, I suffered a cardiac arrest and received treatment at the Richland Center Hospital. I was later transferred by helicopter to Meriter Hospital. I can honestly say that the treatment I received at Meriter was the finest that I have ever received in a hospital. The nursing staff is exceedingly caring, efficient, knowledgeable and pleasant to deal with. The surgeons explained in detail the required procedures and carried them out with precision. Everyone went out of their way to keep up my spirit and speed my recovery. I have a large, close family and visitors came from five states to wish me well. The staff permitted our noisy group to use a conference room for a Father's Day brunch. Before being discharged I received all of the information I need to continue my recovery. On Friday, June 26, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel printed a column that was very critical of the nursing profession today. I sent a reply to the newspaper relating my experience at Meriter to show that all is not lost. I congratulate Meriter on having a well run hospital!
