Stories About Meriter Surgery and the Intensive Care Unit

We Are Eternally Grateful

We spent last Christmas at Meriter, and continue to be thankful for Meriter’s team and facility. We live in Arizona and had been trying to get a hold of our daughter, a grad student at UW-Madison, as she had not been feeling well, and was to fly home the next day for winter break.

She was found unresponsive in her bed around midnight on December 21. We consider it an act of God that the ambulance took her to Meriter. The ER doctors poured over untold lab results for hours to finally reach a diagnosis of staph aureus of the blood. When we arrived at the ICU on December 22, she did not even recognize us and was not speaking.

The staff, level of care, and the technology were phenomenal at Meriter. She came home to Arizona for a few weeks and was able to return to school on schedule. Her PICC line was removed in early February, and now I would say she is 99% back to health. Our story has a very, very happy ending. We owe it all to Meriter!

The nursing staff was so professional and knowledgeable; helping us understand what was going on and responding to every need. The support staff was terrific. Dr. Kimura and Dr. Kethireddy are miracle workers. We really appreciate the extra time they spent with us to discuss whether to fly her to Arizona upon release or not.

We were living at an out-of-town hospital during Christmas, cancelled all festive plans, had a very sick loved one, but still made it through because of the care we received. Even the servers in the cafeteria and coffee shop were wonderful.

We are eternally grateful and our entire family expresses deep gratitude from our hearts.
