Meriter Pediatrics Clinic and Hospital Unit Underway

Remodeling has begun for the new Meriter out-patient pediatrics clinic which will be located in the Discovery Springs Business Park at 2275 Deming Way, Suite 220 in Middleton. A team of Meriter Medical Group pediatricians will serve children and adolescents from birth to age 18 at this location. The clinic will open before the end of the year and will have some extended evening and weekend hours.

Meriter will also begin construction on the Meriter Pediatric Center in mid-September. This 8-bed unit will be located adjacent to the Emergency Services Department and will provide care for pediatric patients from emergency visits through observation and in-patient stays. Annually, Meriter cares for over 5,000 children and adolescents in the Emergency Services Department. The new Pediatric Center is the next evolution in Meriter’s almost 100 year commitment to pediatric care. Recruitment continues for the pediatric hospitalists who will deliver hospital-based care for pediatric patients while maintaining strong bonds with the community pediatricians. Completion of this unit is scheduled for Spring 2010.

Meriter is a not-for-profit community hospital that has served Madison and the surrounding communities for over 110 years. Nationally, 85 percent of hospitalized children are cared for in general community hospitals. Meriter will continue to serve children by providing appropriate essential medical services, while referring medically complex pediatric patients to a facility with specialty capabilities.
