Comfort of Home, Care of Meriter - Meriter's State-of-the-Art Oncology Unit
Meriter
Hospital is proud of its new state-of-the-art Oncology Unit, which opened in
late 2008. The unit's patient-focused design offers:
15 private inpatient rooms, each has a bathroom with a shower and a
sleeper sofa for a family member or friend
An air-flow handling system designed specifically for infection control
Expanded outpatient treatment area
More space for family members to be part of the care experience
Family lounge, resource library and consultation rooms
Meriter Foundation
played a major role in financing the $5 million unit. The Foundation's priority
focus for 2008 was to improve the care environment for cancer patients and their
families.
"Cancer is a disease that touches so many in our community," says Foundation
President Fran Petonic. "The Foundation was pleased to be a part of this very
important project that will help to greatly improve the quality of life for
those living with cancer in our area. We are deeply grateful to everyone who
helped make this unit a reality."
