Welcome to Meriter
I'm Meriter President and CEO Jim Woodward. It is an honor to lead an
organization dedicated to providing high-quality healthcare in south-central
Wisconsin.
I'm pleased to report that 2007 was an extraordinary year. Among our
accomplishments, we opened the area's first Heart Hospital
as well as a state-of-the-art
Newborn Intensive Care Unit. Both contain the latest technology and
all-private rooms.
2008 is promising to be just as remarkable. Not only is it our organization's
110th anniversary, it also marks the beginning of an exciting future, which
includes:
- A growing medical group that includes:
Three Cardiovascular Surgeons – Khosro (Ed) Adib, MD,
Haywood Gilliam, MD and John McVey, MD – who have, throughout their time in
Madison, practiced exclusively at Meriter. We are proud that these talented,
experienced physicians within the
Heart Hospital have
chosen to strengthen their relationship with Meriter.
Hospitalists – Healthcare professionals who specialize in
the care of hospitalized patients. This
group of physicians
manages all aspects of the inpatient stay so patients have a smooth, quick
recovery. They also work with primary care physicians, specialists and
therapists to help coordinate the care of patients.
A Second Medical Clinic - Just off McKee Road in Madison, Meriter Medical Clinic-McKee opened in July. Drs. Casper, Olajos and Pickney help extend Meriter's commitment to providing the community with better access to primary care. Meriter's first medical clinic has been providing primary care services in Middleton since 2004.
The Meriter Medical Group works with Meriter's physician partners, including
UW Health Physicians and independent physician groups. Together, they are
skilled, board-certified physicians representing a wide range of medical
specialties.
- A
Tobacco-Free campus, a positive step that provides a healthier
environment for our patients, visitors, physicians, employees, students,
volunteers, vendors, contracted workers and anyone else who visits us.
In 2008, we are continuing to:
- Strive to make the patient experience as pleasant, convenient and
comfortable as possible, with amenities that include
room-service dining,
wireless Internet
access and
CarePages. Most
importantly, we are here to help you get well and get back to your life, as
quickly as possible.
- Renew our commitment as a not-for-profit hospital by providing essential
community services that otherwise wouldn't be available in the region, such
as the Max W. Pohle Dental Clinic
and the Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Hospital.
- Enhance Meriter's facilities to provide a calming, healing environment
equipped with some of the most advanced medical technology to help our
physicians diagnose and treat a wide variety of conditions – faster and with
greater precision than ever before.
- Inspire Meriter employees to build upon their strengths and hold
themselves accountable for creating a healthcare system that is among the
best in the nation.
As we continually look for ways to improve how we deliver healthcare, one
thing won't change. You can continue to trust that we will focus on one
mission...
To heal this day
To teach for tomorrow
To embrace excellence always
To serve our communities –
For a lifetime of quality health care.
